Frederik Philippi

I'm a scientist. As such, I am driven by curiosity, unravelling the rules nature imposes on us. I worked in four countries so far: Germany, The United Kingdom, Japan, and France. International collaboration across disciplines is something I truly enjoy, and many of the people I have met along the way have become friends or mentors of me. My aim is to advance the limits of knowledge. This is something I cannot do alone. If you want to work with me, have a look at the research page and let me know what you think!

I am also a chemist. We are all enjoying the products of chemistry and want to keep enjoying them. Without chemistry, we would not have smartphones, cars, or pharmaceuticals. Chemistry has made our modern life possible, but has also introduced some new problems. Now, we have to make an uncomfortable choice. Do we want to stop using such products for the benefit of future generations? Or do we want to try and find ways to make them in a more sustainable manner? I believe the latter is possible, and I am determined to play my part in this effort.

Coding is a big part of what I do, and so is communication. I decided that I need a flexible tool to reach the world, thus this Website is also an opportunity for me to learn. I wrote it from scratch using HTML, CSS, javascript etc, and it is running on a raspberry pi in some corner. That also means the website might not load if someone trips over the cable or if my wifi has problems.

Hopefully, one day, I will need to add a tab for 'My Group'!
